Media Monday–Hoppípolla!

Happy Monday, GLNers! I hope you’re recovering nicely from this weekend’s Cinco de Derby. But if you’re still feeling a little out of it, I have just the song for you! This might already be old news for you, but for your enjoyment, here is hoppípolla by sigur rós. They sing in a combination of Icelandic and a made-up language called “Hopelandic.” If you’re interested in a crash-course in Icelandic pronunciation, click here. Or if you just want to zone out to the music, enjoy below!

Here are the lyrics, thanks to sigur rós’s website:

hoppípolla

brosandi
hendumst í hringi
höldumst í hendur
allur heimurinn óskýr
nema þú stendur

rennblautur
allur rennvotur
engin gúmmístígvél
hlaupandi inn í okkur
vill springa út úr skel

vindurinn
og útilykt af hárinu þínu
ég lamdi eins fast og ég get
með nefinu mínu

hoppípolla
í engum stígvélum
allur rennvotur (rennblautur)
í engum stígvélum

og ég fæ blóðnasir
en ég stend alltaf upp

og ég fæ blóðnasir
og ég stend alltaf upp
