Apply to Teach
Thanks for your interest in teaching with GLN! While teaching is a fun and rewarding experience, it is also a serious responsibility. That is why we carefully select our teachers based on their demonstrated energy, capability and commitment to GLN and to the language and culture they wish to teach.
Summer 2012 teaching application is closed. Please feel free to submit an application in case you wish to be included on the teacher waitlist. (Summer 2012 semester runs from June 4th to July 28th. Since summer is a shorter semester, classes run twice a week for 1.5 hours and you must be able to commit to such a schedule.)
1. Submit the online teaching application.
2. Attend a two hour Information Session: you will have the opportunity to meet GLN staff, find out more about GLN, our language approach and about teaching with our organization. You will also be able to meet and connect with other prospective teachers.
3. Attend a four hour Teacher Workshop during which we will train you how to teach your language and share your culture using our unique approach.
4. Present a ten minute ‘mini-lesson’ at a “Teacher Presentation”: this is your opportunity to demonstrate your passion, energy, enthusiasm and show us what a great teacher you will be. In turn, we will be able to give you concrete feedback, additional training and better prepare you for your first class.
Selection is based on candidates’ demonstrated energy, capability and commitment to GLN and to the language they wish to teach.
Should you be interested, submit the online application. We warmly welcome all candidates and no prior teaching experience is necessary! Should you have any questions, feel free to email us at Teach@TheGLN.org
Note: If you are not a native speaker or you wish to help out in our classes without being the main teacher, you can also serve as a Teaching Assistant (TA). The TA is assigned to a teacher and provides support in many different areas such as helping with lesson planning and handouts, conducting activities and exercises with the students, maintaining the online Class Page and substituting for the teacher in case the teacher cannot make it to class. TAs follow the same process as teachers so if you are interested in serving as a TA, please submit the online application.
