Joe-Ann Touma is a rising senior at James Madison University, majoring in International Affairs with a Middle Eastern concentration and Arabic. She has previously volunteered at Skyline Literacy with administrative and translation needs, as well as with the Gandhi Center, volunteering to teach children about peace and courage. Her passions include languages, traveling, and her beautiful cat. Joe-Ann has traveled to Lebanon over a dozen times and believes that Arabic has helped her strengthen her relationship with her family and her passion to serve. She also believes that the ability to explain oneself and to understand another fully will empower people, showing them their words can make a difference.
