Translation Tuesday–devil’s strip!

Hey GLNers!  Today’s post is geared towards a large portion of our community for whom American English is not a native language.  It is not for me so I wanted to share a resource that I have found to be very helpful.

Dictionary of American Regional English (DARE) was compiled over 50 years and includes words, phrases and pronunciations that vary from region to region within the United States.  According to the dictionary, a devi’s strip = a curb, which can also be described in eleven different ways, depending on the dialect of American English used.
