GLN volunteers

GLN has three main departments: Learning & Program Development, Operations, and Development. The various positions and opportunities for involvement all fall into one of the three departments.

GLN Assistants

GLN Assistants are volunteers who work on discreet projects and provide support to major GLN initiatives (such as development, outreach, events, Teaching Fellowship recruitment, and fundraising). Assistants commit to projects and contribute 5 hours per week (between 10-20 hours per month).

Assistant examples:

  • Development Assistant – support GLN growth through corporate sponsorship outreach, grant research, grant writing, and other fundraising areas.
  • Outreach Assistant – support GLN growth through building strategic partnerships between GLN and other organizations.
  • Networking Assistant – attend local networking, social, and cultural events as an official GLN representative and make connections for GLN and for yourself.
  • Operations Assistant – support our Teaching Fellows by conducting class observations, creating teaching resources such as visual aids, handouts, etc and expanding the teacher resource library
  • Administrative Assistant – get the feel for how a not-for-profit organization works by assisting day-to-day operations and administration.
  • Marketing & Development Assistant – visit GLN classes to capture media – picture, video, write-ups, provide support to our ‘individual giving’ program, fundraising events and other areas of fund development as necessary
  • Special Projects Assistant – help plan and execute various events and help recruit new teachers

GLN Associates

GLN Associates are volunteers who provide support to various GLN departments (such as events, Teaching Fellowship recruitment, outreach and fundraising). Associates  contribute 10 hours per week (between 20-40 hours per month).

Associate examples:

  • Development Associate – support GLN growth through corporate sponsorship outreach, grant research, grant writing, and other fundraising areas.
  • Outreach Associate – support GLN growth through building strategic partnerships between GLN and other organizations.
  • Networking Associate – attend local networking, social, and cultural events as an official GLN representative and make connections for GLN and for yourself.

GLN Interns & Coordinators

Leadership Fellowship examples:

  • Operations Leadership Fellow – lead a team supporting our Teaching Fellows by conducting class observations, creating teaching resources such as visual aids, handouts, etc and expanding the teacher resource library
  • Administrative Leadership Fellow – get the real experience of how a not-for-profit organization works by being directly-involved in day-to-day operations and administration.
  • Marketing Coordinator/Intern – take the lead with GLN marketing; visit GLN classes to capture media – picture, video, write-ups, provide support to our ‘individual giving’ program, fundraising events and other areas of fund development as necessary
