WEDNESDAY’S WORD OF THE WEEK — CHEERS!

With a few holidays approaching, we may find ourselves in the bars or friend’s/family’s dinner parties. We say “Cheers!” loudly and joyfully when we raise our glasses. How would you cheers in Chinese (Mandarin), Chinese (Cantonese), Japanese and Korean? It’s easy to learn them because they have very similar pronunciation.

Chinese (Mandarin): 乾杯, pronounced Gānbēi.

Chinese (Cantonese): 乾杯, pronounced Gonbui.

Japanese: 乾杯, pronounced Kanpai.

Korean: 건배, pronounced Geonbae.

To listen the words in Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese and Korean, go to Google Translate, copy and paste the characters.
