Ayşenur grew up in Bursa, Turkey, where she also obtained a bachelor’s degree in International Relations, and a master’s degree in Sociology of Religion from Uludağ University. She moved to the United States in 2010. Most recently, she has completed a master’s degree in Middle East and Islamic Studies at George Mason University. During her graduate studies at George Mason she has become particularly interested in migration and refugees and conducted research about Syrian refugees in Turkey. Ayşenur enjoys listening to Turkish classical music and plays the traditional reed flute, ney. She is enthusiastic about learning other cultures and sharing her knowledge on Turkish culture. She also learns Arabic at GLN.
