I first became interested in languages because I wanted to understand what other people were thinking—an impossible task unless you understand what others are saying. Since then I’ve also become interested in language as a means of understanding cultures. I love watching languages change as the needs of their speakers change–and few languages bend to the needs of their users more than English. I love the recklessness of the English language. I love its grammatical flexibility. I love how it adopts characteristics of other languages. And, I love how it sloppily creates new words. I look forward to further exploring and developing the language with my students. My previous ESL experience includes teaching at the University of Versailles and several French elementary schools.
