As an adopted Louisianaise, I love surprising people when I share with them about how often one hears French in Louisiana. As a college instructor of French, I enjoy teaching the language that has been my passport to places as interesting as France, Belgium, West Africa, the Caribbean, and Canada. I offer my students a variety of perspectives on the Francophone world, starting here in North America. In the GLN classroom, we cover what the student needs to know before going abroad – or down to the bayou! And as a lagniappe – a ‘just because’ gift – we enjoy homemade French pastries party at the end of the semester!
