When I started high school my French teacher started our first class by writing a quote about multilingualism on the blackboard and made everyone write it down. The quote was in Italian but it loosely translates to “since words are the instrument of thought, those who grow up in a multilingual society have a more flexible and tolerant mentality, and they are capable of seeing diversity as an advantage, not a threat.” These words have informed my career path ever since and are perfectly aligned with GLN’s mission. This is why I am proud to share my language and culture as a Teaching Fellow.
