Foodie Friday–Not Your Typical Brunch

When you think of brunch (which I’m sure you do frequently, if you live in DC), I’m guessing the following things come to mind: pancakes, bacon, waffles, omelets, cake, hash browns, carving stations, sandwiches, pastries…the list goes on and on.

But what about hummus? Falafel? Fried halloumi?

One of the great things about DC is the culinary variety. Brunch doesn’t have to just mean a typical “American” menu. I recently went to Levante’s (19th St at Dupont), where I was blown away by their Mediterranean brunch buffet. In addition to “traditional” brunch fare, I was treated to some Mediterranean delights!

Are you a brunch fan? What’s your favorite non-traditional brunch??

(What’s your favorite DC restaurant? Tell us about it and we’ll feature it on a Foodie Friday!)

    I LOVE Levante’s!!!

  2. I love Levante’s! It serves traditional Turkish dishes, almost 100% authentic! They have pide, but I don’t think they serve menemen – my all time favorite breakfast/brunch dish from Turkey. It’s soooo good! I made it many times at home, and here is the recipe and review – http://universal-mixer.blogspot.com/2012/02/taste-of-turkey-menemen.html
