Meet GLN Fellow alumna Anne Marie!

Fellow alum Anne Marie Niandou Gbobia is from Cote-d’Ivoire. She has lived and taught French in the Washington, DC Metro Area since 2011. In addition to being a GLN alum, she is an alumna of the Fulbright Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at the Penn State University College of Education. Her passion for teaching and cultural exchange lead her to the Global Language Network.

A lover of languages and traveling, Anne Marie is always willing to share what she learns. As you can see in the photo above, she took some time this past week to explain to us about the uniquely African fabric known as Le Pagne.

Le Pagne is an ornate fabric worn in African Fashion. But as our Fellows describe to us, you can also wear it to let others know what part of [Africa] you are from, or to cushion your head when carrying items ‘overhead.’  It even has its own Twitter page. Go figure, eh? As Anne Marie tells it, you can also wear Le Pagne for this snow that keeps coming our way this winter. #facepalm
