Denise Brookman-Amissah is a second-year student at the University of Virginia intending to major in Foreign Affairs. Denise was born and raised in Northern Virginia by Ghanian Immigrants. Her cultural upbringing fostered her passion for international relations and global policy. Denise is involved in several student organizations at her University. She serves as a member of the Student Council Diversity Committee, she is a photographer for UVA’s newspaper, The Cavalier Daily, and has also volunteered with Unicef and Virginia’s Eviction Legal Helpline. Denise’s experiences have taught her the importance of cultural awareness and communication. She is excited to work alongside the Global Language Network’s passionate team of Leadership Fellows.
