Giancarlo Giovanelli graduated from American University’s School of International Service (SIS) in December 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies. Born and raised in Colombia, Giancarlo also has Italian roots and is very proud of both his Colombian and Italian heritage. Before joining GLN Giancarlo worked as a Global Fellow at Equanimity Foundation where he reinforced his passion for learning about other cultures and his interest in supporting humanitarian and global development causes in any way possible. He is currently located in Washington D.C. and is using his optional practical training to gain experience and expand his network.
He’s had the chance to live in Colombia, Italy and Ireland and he credits the different experiences in shaping his rooted interest for other cultures as well as his passion for sharing his background and aspects of his own culture with others. Giancarlo believes in the massive impact a nonprofit like GLN and its mission can have and is excited to use his language skills to play his role in fixing our world. In his free time, Giancarlo enjoys cooking (especially Italian food), playing soccer and hiking with his dog Lula. He recently became a member of the diverse and creative GLN team as a Leadership Fellow. He will also be teaching Spanish with GLN.
