WEDNESDAY’S WORD OF THE WEEK — ADD OIL!

How are you all doing in your GLN language classes? Add Oil! Add Oil! Are you studying for a mid-term or have just taken one and wish to have a little more encouragement to finish up the rest of the semester? Guys, add oil! In Chinese, 加油 literally means add oil. These two characters combined together as an expression. The expression encourages people to make more or extra effort to accomplish something. So everyone (students and teachers), 加油 in your GLN language classes and exams!

Chinese (Mandarin): 加油, pronounced Jiā yóu.

Chinese (Cantonese): 加油, pronounced Gaa yeo.
