Word-of-the-Week Wednesday–Къэущэжь!

Hello GLNers!  Even if you did not attend the awesome Summer Kick-off Happy Hour last evening, the word/phrase this morning might help, given that it’s the middle of the week.  Къэущэжь! means Wake up! in Western Circassian dialect of Adyghe.

Circassian is spoken by people from North Caucasus.  The diaspora population in the U.S. is estimated at around 5,000.  Most have immigrated to escape the Soviet Union.  I have never met anyone who identified themselves as Circassian, have you?  Perhaps, next GLN activity will offer that opportunity.  Speaking of GLN events, what new words did you learn during the GLN Happy Hour yesterday?  Please share with us by clicking on the e-mail link below.

(Is there a word in a foreign language that you just love? That you can’t get enough of, could say over and over, or you just like its meaning? Share it with us in a comment or email!)
