It’s that time of the week again! And yes, I mean that as we move over the hump, people are attending happy hours after work. I often fondly refer to happy hours as HHs, although if you ask a German if they want to go to an HH with you, they will likely be rather confused. (HH=Hansestadt Hamburg…it would be like asking someone to go to NY with you, when really you just want to grab a drink.)
But, I’m not here to talk about German today! I’m here to make you sound smart and worldly at your next HH! If you want to impress some friends (or, ahem, a ladyfriend or manfriend), just tell them that you know how to say “beer” in Vietnamese. Tell them it’s quite simple, really: bia! And if they asked where you learned this, you could either make up a great story about backpacking around Vietnam…or point them here! 🙂
Happy Wednesday and happy HHs!
