Word-of-the-Week Wednesday–Ubuntu!

Hello Lovely GLNers!  Hope your week is fantastic and filled with kindness.

Today’s word isn’t just a term coming from Southern African languages.  It embodies philosophy and worldview of several nations on the world’s largest continent.  It also reminds me of the way several fellow GLNers think and act.

Ubuntu [pronounced oo-BUUN-too] means humanity or fellow feeling; kindness.  For a description of Ubuntu way of life, check out YouTube:  Nelson Mandela’s summary of Ubuntu.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday full of caring, sharing and giving.

(Is there a word in a foreign language that you just love? That you can’t get enough of, could say over and over, or you just like its meaning? Forward it to us in a comment!)

  1. What a beautiful word and a beautiful concept.

Which South African language does it come from?

    Thank you for sharing!
