GLN Pricing and Course Levels

Priority Registration

Skip the Waitlist and Enroll with Priority Registration!

Some of our classes can have long waitlists to join. For a non-refundable donation of only $75, you can have peace of mind knowing that you have a guaranteed spot in the class of your choice.

Our Class Hosts & Partners, Teaching Fellows & Teaching Assistants, and Organizational Volunteers receive free Priority Registration as a thanks for their commitment to GLN.

Refund, Credit, and Stipend Policy

Participation Stipend:

At GLN, we love to give back. When you commit to your class and help create a positive, engaging learning space, we thank you with a Participation Stipend—a GLN credit of up to $95 at the end of the semester.

It’s not guaranteed—but it is our favorite bonus to give! Here’s how to qualify:

  • Miss no more than 1 session in shorter classes (6–10 weeks)
  • Be on time and stay the full class (15+ mins late = absent)
  • Plan for potential make-up sessions (they count too!)
  • Attendance counts from day 1, even if you join late

How the Stipend Works:

  • Every $200 class includes a $100 registration fee, a $95 class fee, and a $5 PayPal fee.
  • The standard stipend will equal your class fee, up to $95
  • For example, if you paid $160 for a class and used a $40 credit, your eligible stipend will be a $55 GLN credit.
  • Credits cannot be combined and Participation Stipends cannot be earned after applying $95 or more of credits to a class.

Refund Policy:

  • All donations and payments, including promotions, Priority Registration, or class payments, are non-refundable. Any unused amounts will be converted to GLN credit for future use. In rare cases where a class or service is affected by an unforeseen change on our end, we will work with participants to provide an appropriate resolution.
  • Want to drop a class? Contact GLN to drop your class or transfer to another class.

Course Levels

Five different course levels are offered: three beginner level courses and two advanced courses. Our classes are designed to provide a context for foreign language learning, and thus cover content that is of interest and value to our learners. GLN’s interactive approach and thematic-based curriculum are focused on building communicative competence, or the ability to communicate effectively and in culturally appropriate ways. We focus on improving our learners’ proficiency in two of the four language skills: speaking and listening. While we cover reading and writing, those language skills take a secondary role in our approach.

Unlocking Deeper Communication

The Higher-Level Module is intended for students who have significant experience with the language. Advanced students may have majored in the language in college or lived abroad for at least a few months, using the target language daily.

These courses are not sequential – Frequent Flyer is not a prerequisite for Nearly Native – rather each class targets a different level of speakers. The advanced courses will help students maintain their level, refine their skills, and build relationships and interact with other individuals with a significant background in the language.
