My name is Juliane. I was born in Brazil. I am from the town of Criciúma in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. I came to the United States in the fall of 2005 and have been living here ever since. I get great satisfaction teaching Portuguese because I know the challenges of learning a new language and adapting to a new culture. In Brazil, I also studied Spanish and when I got to the US I continued to learn and use that language. Understanding the nuances of language give a glimpse into culture and allows us to communicate on a deeper level. Refining one’s language skills is a lifelong pursuit I am passionate about. Teaching is a way for me to share that passion with others.
